As Marylanders struggle to pay for everyday expenses such as food, clothing, energy and shelter, the folks who control Annapolis continue to redefine freedom and opportunity. They speak of “One Maryland”, but after looking at their latest proposals, the question arises: In which Maryland do they live?
Here are a few highlights of their plans for 2012:
- “Gas Sales Tax” – Applying the 6% Sales Tax to Gasoline – Making Maryland the highest Gas Tax in the Nation (You’re already paying 23.5 cents per gallon)
- “Flush Tax” - Doubling it from $30 to $60
- “App Tax” – 6% on all downloads including E-Books
- “Amazon Tax” - Charging 6% Sales Tax on all Internet Purchases
- Reducing the Mortgage Interest Deduction for singles earning $100,000 per year and couples earning $150,000 per year
- Doubling the “Fetal Death Certificate"
If this is not the government that you asked for and if you believe that economic freedom and opportunity are under attack in Maryland, then please volunteer to get the word out to the citizens of Maryland. You can contact my office at 410-841-3231 or send me an email.
Economic Empowerment is rooted in the American Opportunity Society, where hard work, risk-taking, education and perseverance are rewarded. It is uniquely American that each generation should have an opportunity at a better life than their parents.
Yet - the folks who control Annapolis believe that hard work & risk-taking should not matter. They envision “One Maryland”.
With all of their new taxes and fees - they just might get their wish!
